AL 144

State Route 144 is an east–west route in east Alabama that runs from U.S. Highway 231 in St. Clair County near Pell City to U.S. Highway 431 at Alexandria in Calhoun County. The highway is two lanes for its entire length. The route also crosses the Coosa River using the highway bridge across the Neely Henry Dam.

Until 1997, the section of SR-144 between State Route 77 and U.S. Highway 431, was designated as State Route 62. State Route 62 is now assigned to a short route in Marshall County. Also, the section of SR-144 between State Route 77 and Ragland was signed as County Road 26 until SR-144 was extended eastward.
