GA 46
State Route 49 (SR 49) is a state highway that runs west-to-east through portions of Dodge, Laurens, Montgomery, Treutlen, Emanuel, Candler, and Bulloch counties in central Georgia. The route runs from its western terminus at US 23, SR 87, and SR 117 in Eastman to its eastern terminus at I-16 southeast of Denmark. The route mostly runs in close proximity to I-16 and serves local traffic.
From its western terminus at US 23/US 341 BUS/SR 27 BUS/SR 87/SR 117 in downtown Eastman, SR 46 travels east through rural parts of Dodge, Laurens, and Wheeler counties before crossing the Oconee River into Treutlen County and entering the county seat of Soperton. SR 46 departs Soperton to the east, and continues east to its junction with US 1/SR 4 in Oak Park. In Oak Park, SR 46 becomes concurrent with US 1/SR 4 for a short distance north. Shortly after meeting I-16 at exit 90, SR 46 departs US 1/SR 4, and continues east, closely paralleling I-16. After passing through Metter, the route enters Bulloch County, where it meets its eastern terminus at I-16 southeast of Denmark, and continues east as SR 67. At one point State Route 46 ran to U.S. Hwy 80 just west of Blichton, Georgia in Bryan county, now that portion service as a county road.
It has an Average Annual Daily Traffic (AADT) of less than 5,000 over the entire route with the exception of a short segment east of Metter.
At one point, SR 46 continued to US 80, just west of Blitchton in Bryan County. Now that portion serves as a county road.[citation needed]
State Route 46 Connector (SR 46 CONN) is a short connector route connecting the SR 46 mainline in Eastman with SR 117.
