GA 348
State Route 348 (SR 348) is a winding state highway in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. SR 348 serves as a direct route from Blairsville, Georgia to Helen, Georgia.
Also known as the Richard B. Russell Scenic Highway, SR 348 winds 14.0 miles (22.5 km) through the Chattahoochee National Forest at elevations ranging from 2,040 feet (620 m) to 3,644 feet (1,111 m).
SR 348 begins at an intersection with SR 180 in southeastearn Union County and ends at the intersection with SR 75 ALT west of Helen in White County.
SR 348 is a part of the Russell-Brasstown Scenic Byway which also includes SR 180 and parts of SR 17/SR 75. This byway is also designated as a National Scenic Byway (also referred to as America's Byways).
Richard B. Russell was personally involved in the design and construction of the highway. Along this road are two excellent hiking trails, Dukes Creek Falls and Raven Cliff Falls. SR 348's northern terminus is southwest of Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia. The highway crosses the Appalachian Trail.
